how to

hearts connected

Small satin pillows are used in multiples to create a modern, heartfelt easel tribute.

Design by Tina Stoecker, AIFD, PFCI

Ideal as a tribute from the children or grandchildren of the deceased, this contemporary easel arrangement represents the special bonds with the one who has moved on. Using pure-white satin pillows, each one stapled to the next, as backdrops for “mini arrangements” of flowers and foliages, the creatively appealing presentation is both innocent and comforting.
The full-complementary mix of colors, from cool blue Delphiniums to warmer orange spray roses and yellow Alstroemerias, creates a harmonious presentation within each heart. Blades of lily grass (Liriope), doubled for interest, link each of the small “arrangements,” creating rhythm with their gracefully cascading effect. Loops of lily grass draw the eye to the top—and most floral-heavy—satin heart.
To attach the top pillow to the easel, its elastic band is slipped over the easel’s top left corner. The bands of the other three pillows are attached to the easel’s legs in a staggered fashion with ribbon.

Satin-and-Lace Heart Pillows from Syndicate Sales; corsage pins from Lion Ribbon; Oasis® Floral Adhesive from Smithers-Oasis; easel from The John Henry Company; spray roses, Alstroemerias, larkspurs (Delphiniums), lily grass (Liriope), seeded Eucalyptus, Galax leaves, bracelet honey myrtle (Melaleuca) and green Hypericum from favorite suppliers.

  HOW TO 3:
