This botanical necklace offers
a flowery twist on traditional wedding jewelry.
Floral jewelry is one of the greatest trends in both wedding and prom
flowers, and with the variety of decorative wire on the market today, it
is easy to be creative with fashion accessories. The combination of
aluminum wire and bullion wire that creates the choker form makes this
necklace a fun and flirty custom piece of jewelry for a modern-minded
bride or bridesmaid.
Miniature Cymbidiums impart a tropical look, which is complemented by
the vibrant orange Gerbera and ‘Mambo’ spray roses. To keep the Gerbera
from overpowering the necklace, half of the petals are removed and glued
in a layered fashion to the cascading loop of wire.
The trendy choker complements a variety of necklines and even can be
worn on a gown with a high neckline. With its late-summer to early-fall
color palette, it will complement a variety of wedding fashion colors as
well, from white or ivory bridal gowns to the trendiest teal or
chocolate brown bridesmaid dresses.
MATERIALS: Aluminum Wire and Bullion Wire from Smithers-Oasis;
‘Mambo’ spray roses from Royal Flowers; Gerbera and miniature Cymbidiums
from favorite suppliers.

HOW TO
1:
Create a 10- to 12-inch
“necklace” form by looping
aluminum wire back and forth
several times, until desired
thickness is achieved. Wrap
the form with bullion wire,
then bend it around a circular
container to create a
semicircular form.
|
HOW TO
2:
Shape another length of
aluminum wire into an
abstract formation to create a
“pendant,” and wire it onto the
necklace base. Roll masses
of bullion wire into balls, press
them into medallions, and wire
them onto the pendant.
|
HOW TO
3:
Remove a few petals from a Gerbera, and adhere the flowers,
petals and foliage to the necklace base and the pendant with floral
adhesive. |
