how to
capturing fall
colors
Plentiful autumn fruits are
gathered into a zestful harvest centerpiece.
Brilliant hues, although sometimes uncharacteristic of dried botanicals,
shine brightly in this prismatic autumnal collection that reflects the
season’s richest palette. The materials, like a bounteous harvest of
sun-ripened fruits and sheaves of grain, spill over from within the
large, heavy-laden vessel in which they’re lavishly collected.
The profusive product placement, in which the wealth of elements is
stacked and layered, increases depth and emphasizes textures, inviting
extended gazing. As a result, this consummate fall piece, with its
fruitful harvest theme, is perfect as a centerpiece on a Thanksgiving
table as well as for other autumnal meals and gatherings.
MATERIALS: gourds, Protea flats, Berry Red China millet, natural
wheat, salal leaves, green leaf acorns and kiwi vine from Knud Nielsen
Company; urn, berried garland and rose hips from Sullivans; Oasis® Hot
Melt Glue, Sahara® II Dry Foam and Waterproof Tape from Smithers-Oasis.
