National Publications Tout Benefits of Ordering From Local Florists
<Your City>, <Your State>, <Date> - According to recent articles in
Consumer Reports and SmartMoney magazines as well as The New York Times,
ordering flowers from local florists (rather than national mail-order
flower vendors or order relayers) can result in greater satisfaction
among flower buyers and recipients.
Consumer Reports revealed findings from four major online flower
companies in its February 2007 issue. After ordering a dozen roses from
each company weekly for up to six weeks—and experiencing problems such
as broken stems, incorrect bloom color and short vase life—the magazine
came to the following as part of its conclusion: “Consider ordering from
a florist near the recipient.”
An article in the February 2007 issue of SmartMoney also indicated that
local florists may provide the most satisfactory results, with this
conclusion: “When sending flowers long-distance, the best results often
come from speaking with a local florist and having the order filled via
a trusted, networked shop in the recipient's town. Sure, the Internet is
fast and easy, but when it comes to giving flowers, the smart money
often means taking the path less convenient.”
And in an article in the Feb. 14, 2007 edition of The New York Times,
Amy Stewart, author of the new book Flower Confidential: The Good, The
Bad and the Beautiful in the Business of Flowers, reminds consumers that
nothing compares to the sensory and emotional experience that stepping
into a local flower shop can offer. “Flower shops remind us who we
are—fragile, transitory creatures, not nearly as tough as our suits and
our briefcases make us look,” she wrote. “They call our attention to the
passing of spring, and to the fullness of love. Every city needs that.”
So the next time you need to order flowers in <Your city>, call <Your
shop name>, your local florist.
