wedding bouquet

Suggest this dramatic bouquet
and coordinating cocktail ring for brides and their attendants.
Brides searching for tropical-inspired or out-of-the-ordinary floral
accents will be wowed by this stunning bouquet, with its spiky textures
and warm color palette. A hip, oversized cocktail ring featuring a billy
button makes a complementary, modern accessory to accompany attendants
or others in the ceremony.
The bouquet is constructed by first inserting deciduous huckleberry
stems around the base of a bouquet holder, then trimming them with
scissors into an even circle. After the pincushions (Leucospermum ‘High
Gold’) and conebushes (Leucadendron ‘Lennox’) are arranged, the bouquet
is encircled by a “ribbon” of decorative mesh that is cut into a strip
with frayed edges.
Sturdy Cymbidium orchid petals and Hydrangea florets form the base for
the colorful, attention-grabbing billy button (Craspedia) on the ring,
which is handmade from aluminum and bullion wire. Choose these or
similar sturdy blossoms.
MATERIALS:
Silver Aluminum Wire and Bullion Wire and Oasis® Floral Adhesive from
Smithers-Oasis; ArtMesh® from ArtMesh/Earth-Deco; Leucospermums,
Leucadendrons and deciduous huckleberry from California cut flower
growers; miniature Cymbidium orchid, billy button (Craspedia) and
Hydrangea from favorite suppliers.

HOW TO
1:
Coil aluminum wire several
times around your finger to
create the ring form, leaving
the tail of the aluminum wire
bent upward on the top side
of the ring.
|
HOW TO
2:
Flatten a ball of bullion wire as
a base for the flowers, and
impale it on the vertical
aluminum wire tail. Trim the
tail to about a quarter of an
inch, at a 45-degree angle.
|
HOW TO
3:
Remove the center from a mini Cymbidium, and affix the outer
petals to the ring base with floral adhesive. Glue on Hydrangea
petals, and finish with a billy button impaled on the aluminum wire
tail. |
