bouquet display

Natural accents decorate the couple’s chairs and hold the bride’s bouquet during receptions.

Design by Christina Burton, AIFD,

Attached to barren branches with barked wire, fresh white pine and cedar create a pair of botanical treatments for the bridal couple’s reception seating. While the natural accessories are appealing on their own, a few floral enhancements significantly increase their impact. But these are not just any flowers. Designer Christina Burton, aifd, has outfitted the bride’s chair, on the left, with a specially designed holder into which the bride can drop her bouquet when she arrives at the reception. Similarly, the groom’s chair is outfitted with an oversized replica of his lapel flowers—constructed in the same manner as his boutonniere and bound to the branchy chair décor with barked wire. While the assembly of the bride’s chair-back bouquet holder requires some experimentation with the size of the floral tie needed for the proper fit, which varies based on the size of the bouquet, brides will appreciate the creative reception display.

MATERIALS:: Freesias and rose hips from The Sun Valley Floral Group; sagebrush (Artemisia), seeded Eucalyptus, Hosta leaves, cedar and white pine from favorite suppliers; gathered fresh tree branches; bouquet wrap from Premier Sydell; Barked Wire from Knud Nielsen Company; Oasis® Waterproof Tape from Smithers-Oasis; Wrapsit Floral Ties from Syndicate Sales; plastic ring salvaged from corsage tape.

HOW TO 1:
Hand-gather a bridal bouquet, and bind the stems with waterproof tape. Cover the gathered stems with a bouquet wrap.
  HOW TO 2:
Loop one end of a plastic floral tie around one of the chair’s rails, and loop the tie through the center of a plastic ring. Insert the end of the tie into the zipping mechanism, and tighten to the proper fit.
  HOW TO 3:
