Designs by Talmage McLaurin, AIFD
When the busy Mother’s Day rush is upon your shop, the last thing you
need is labor-intensive techniques that hinder production. These bright,
cheerful arrangements for modern moms offer fast, simple techniques for
adding special touches, several of which can be done weeks ahead of the
holiday.

garden individuality
A sleek,
white ceramic tulipiere displays permanent Ranunculi of
contrasting hues in a gardeny fashion. Rather than simple, clean
insertions, the stems are entwined for a more interesting and natural
look.
Materials: Belgian Ranunculi and tulipiere from Allstate
Floral & Craft.

testing nature
A
distinctive woodland branch vase, with test tubes placed at random
angles throughout, offers an unexpected way to present Cattleya
orchids, which typically are thought to be more refined flowers.
Preserved lamb’s-ears foliage, backed with wire stems and gently
manipulated, fills out the overall design.
Materials: permanent Cattleya stems and Glass Tubes Branch
Vase from Autograph Foliages; preserved lamb’s-ears foliage from
Verdissimo USA; Oasis™ Bind Wire from Smithers-Oasis; Floratape® Stem
Wrap from Alcan Packaging; Tack 2000 spray adhesive from Design Master
Color Tool.

ocean inspiration
Featuring permanent succulents as well as starfish and seashells, this
arrangement imparts a beachlike ambience to any setting, regardless of
climate. The sand-toned terra-cotta container and bleached moss enhance
the overall theme.
Materials: permanent Echeveva, Kalanchoe ‘Rendle’ Leaves,
Succulent Leaves, Water Lilium Leaves, Tillandsia Leaves, Aloe
Spray, Aloe Spray Leaf, Aloe Spray Shoots; dried Protea
Flats (Susannae) and Reindeer Moss; and Mexican Flats Shells and
Starfish Shells from Schusters of Texas; clay container from favorite
supplier.
