The bride desired a romantic, lush floral display influenced by the
natural outdoor setting, which Sofia Floral Creative Managing Director
Gina Masterka brought to fruition along with three other Sofia Floral
team members, for this summer wedding. Ivory, terra-cotta and blush-hued
roses—both hybrid tea and spray varieties—helped achieve this look on a
custom arch, which seamlessly blended into the landscaping of the
gazebo. Ms. Masterka says the gazebo had only three small eye-hooklike
loops onto which materials could be attached, so she built the floral
framework from curly willow. She then added Italian Ruscus and
salal to give the structure a fuller appearance before adding the roses.
Green Amaranthus completed the look, adding a natural “flowing”
The bride loved the shape of pomanders and wanted them
incorporated into the wedding design as well. Composed of several of the
rose varieties used in the arch, pretty pomanders hung from ribbons from
the aisle chairs of alternating rows.
Enhancing the already beautiful landscaping surrounding the
gazebo on the grounds of the Brook Lodge compound, this floral
arch was created from a framework of curly willow adorned with a
lush, romantic mix of hybrid tea and spray roses as well as
green hanging Amaranthus, Italian Ruscus and salal.
Rose varieties included 'Esperance', 'Cherry Brandy'. 'Cinnamon'
coordinated perfectly with the personal flowers of the bride and
At the ceremony, pomanders hung from the aisle-side chairs,
coordinating with the pomanders carried by the female
bride and her attendants, including one "bridesman," donned
attire highlighted by personal flowers that coordinated
beautifully with the ceremony florals.
