The latest update to the industry’s
biennial trends forecast.
If
you’ve ever wished you could see into the future and get accurate,
no-fail information about which products your customers will crave
throughout the year so that you could choose merchandise and create
arrangements to satisfy current whims, then we may be able to help.
Although it’s no “crystal ball,” the recently updated “American Floral
Trends Forecast” is the next best thing, offering insights into the
fresh florals, containers, design styles and home accents that are
likely to be popular with consumers or, at least, influence floral and
floral-related purchases, in 2006.
Since its dramatic introduction in 2003 and it’s subsequent presentation
at the AIFD National Symposium in Seattle, Wash., in 2005, the American
Floral Trends Forecast continues to be the only comprehensive guide to
the upcoming year’s hottest styles developed specifically for the floral
trade.
Funded by the California Cut Flower Commission (CCFC), the trend outlook
is updated annually by a committee of talented and renowned industry
professionals including Kim Morrill, AIFD, a CCFC Education/Outreach
Team member and creative director for Silk Botanica; Maureen Welton,
president of 18 Karat International Product Sourcing Inc.; Michelle
Perry-White, AIFD, creative director for DA Direct; and Talmage McLaurin,
AIFD, publisher of Florists’ Review.
These esteemed committee members, in collaboration with the CCFC,
identified the following four trends for 2006: Rose Hip, Hydroponic,
Gatherings and Infusion. Each encompasses a wealth of styles, products,
materials and color palettes that, despite the range of hues, are
seasonless and will be present year-round. Utilize these trends as
guideposts for your business throughout 2006.
See our November 2005 issue, page 35, for your copy of Living with
Flowers: The American Floral Trends Forecast 2006, a handy 16-page
booklet produced by California Cut Flower Commission (CCFC). If the
booklet is missing from your issue, contact the CCFC at (831) 728-7333
or www.ccfc.org.
