 Silver Vase, Inc., an innovative grower of potted plants based in Homestead, Fla., has introduced the ‘Lila Mystique’ Phalaenopsis orchid. ‘Lila Mystique’ is the third variety in the company’s ‘Mystique’ series, which began with ‘Blue Mystique’, a blue Phalaenopsis orchid. Making its debut last October, the lilac-hued ‘Lila Mystique’ was originally created as a limited-edition plant for Halloween 2011, but Silver Vase now offers the plant year-round. Like ‘Blue Mystique’ and ‘Indigo Mystique’ before it, ‘Lila Mystique’ is a white Phalaenopsis that is created with an infusion of color from within, in this case transforming it to a lilac hue. Buds that are closed at the time of treatment open to softly fading light purple flowers, and new stems produce white flowers. The plants, which come in 5-inch pots, are available with either one or two flower spikes. |
