garden twist

Miniature pots threaded onto burlap ribbon create a decorative vase "scarf."

A vase filled with a glorious mix of gardeny flowers is beautiful on its own, but this composition, in romantic hues of pink and white, receives enhanced garden appeal with a clever accessory around the neck of the vase.
To create the scarflike adornment, gently shave off the ends of six miniature clay pots with a knife, thread burlap ribbon through the pots and tie the ribbon around the neck of the vase. The distinctive embellishment increases the perceived value of the composition but requires minimal cost to create.■

MATERIALS: Lisianthuses, spray stocks, Gerberas, Hydrangeas, Godetias, Bouvardia and Astilbe from Fresca Farms; Tropical Garden Vase from Syndicate Sales; burlap ribbon from Sullivans; miniature clay pots from favorite supplier.
