Nature-inspired Mother's Day specials for all ages and floral preferences.

purple persuasion

Simple craft materials lend a custom touch to this square lavender container, which is filled with a lush collection of blooms in a range of pink and violet hues. With its vivid variegated leaves, kale is ideal to complement the flowers, including ruffly carnations and roses, which are grouped for maximum impact. The inexpensive container treatment—a square of velvety patterned paper adhered with decoupage glue as well as bands of yarn that add texture and pick up all of the botanicals’ hues—can be done well in advance of the Mother’s Day rush.

Materials: roses, carnations, Lisianthuses, and kale from FTD Flower Exchange; glazed ceramic cube from Jackson Pottery; paper, yarn and Mod Podge from crafts store.
